Dear Abandonia visitors: Help us keep Abandonia free with a small donation. Abandonia is like an old gaming arcade with only original games. Abandonia helps you have fun four hours and years. If Abandonia is useful to you, please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still keeping the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

going back to the good old days...
Ken's Labyrinth - it's been on the site for quite a while, and for some reason we have had bad quality screenshots and (squirms) a version of the game that you cannot play under Dos or Dosbox. Finally, we have added the Dos version and updated the screenshots, so that you can play it as it was meant to be played.

the race is on

Today, uchazu brings you one of the few isometric platofmers that were ever made: Whizz.

Whizz is basically a rabbit in a cylinder hat flying in an air baloon that got shot down by some rat with a shotgun. Sounds weird? Go check it out.

The race for space is on.
Somewhere out there on a frozen arctic island is a launch card, a uranium cube, an escape rocket, and your life-long arch-enemy.
If you don't jet before the big blizzard, you're iced for sure. But before you can lift-off, you'll have to fend off stray polar bears, sub-thermal temperatures and some rather unsavory booby traps.
Yes, it's straight out of the Joke and Dagger Department of MAD Magazine. Only this time, if you blow it, you'll be the punchline.

And now for some licensed arcade action. Its the Star Wars - The Arcade Game! Yeah, its no X-Wing, its very old and its not even in EGA, but its still very, very good. Besides, there arent many changes to get blow up a whole Death Star, so give it a try!

Extras, Boxshots & Ads: The Bard's Tale Trilogy
Since we unprotected The Bard's Tale Trilogy, I thought I should tell the tale of travelling merchant Geezer who had the right accessories in his wide range of goods. Manual and command summary for each part, boxshots for part I and III and advertisements for part II and III. A map for part II not to be forgotten. And that all for only 500 Pieces of Eight! Perhaps it was just a teaser? Seems to be the case when I look into his thread at the Offers forum...

Phantom of the Opera

Madames et Monsieurs! Je vous presente la version CD du Return of the Phantom, une aventure point-and-click inspirée du roman avec le même titre, écrit par Gaston Leroux en 1910... Just kidding. I'm here to announce that we have replaced the previous disk version with the full CD version (it weighs 113 MB), which adds the most wanted speech. You can still download the disk archive in the extras section.

Now you have all that you need to play the role of Raoul Montand in this gothic adventure and solve the mystery of the ectoplasm that still haunts the Opera House in Paris. They say it was the Phantom of the Opera... You'll have to find the answer by yourself. Let's hear the spectators applause exclusively for Frodo, who offered us this gem of a game.

flying blind
You will be without the Terminal Velocity manual, which we now have. It replaces the old Word document manual that was actually for Transartica, which somehow found its way into Terminal Velocity's page. It has been strafed by a TV-102, of course.

Extras & Boxshots: Wing Commander

This is the latest update for Wing Commander, specifically revised for Terran personnel in the Abandonia Sector. The supplement contains four blueprints with specifications on the Confederation ships Hornet, Rapier, Scimitar and Raptor, which the servicemen were urged to familiarize with, because they were the early copy protection information (later it was manual-only). I added them to boxshots as well, just resized to smaller dimensions. The scan manoeuvre was performed by Chris, who has obviously joined Jane's Information Group.

From the Land of the Rising Sun to the Streets of San Francisco

Pacific General is without any doubt one of the best strategy games centered on the War in the Pacific. Featuring all critical missions and a number of what-if scenarios, from both the Axis and the Allies point of view, this game lets you re-experience the war, or even change its outcome. Get on board, cadet! The fate of your nation awaits you!

DKW has brought us this latest part of the 5-Star Series, a sack of ship bisquits is already en route.

Abandonia - 10 YEARS!!!
10 Years! 10 Years! 10 Full Years of Abandonia! In 1999, on the 21st day of June, Abandonia saw for the first time the light of the internet. Many things have happened since then. People came, people left, problems appeared and problems got solved, but the games are still here, and that's the most important thing. No need to sink deep in the darkness trying to remember lost memories. Just read our special history page, leave a few words on the forum and start partying like never before with some serious old-school gaming sessions.

We've accomplished so much, this newspost is not enough for me to mention all. Forget that, even the history page is almost useless. Therefore I hope every member of our community keeps and guards the precious information stamped on their souls, because no matter what anyone says, Abandonia exists only for two things: old games and the people who play them.

Happy Birthday, Abandonia! Aim for the Million!

Celebrations and unprotections
Happy birthday indeed! As for celebration, there's gonna be a couple of nifty updates for today and Im gonna start with the first one.

Remember those Sierra's newest adventure game collection packages? Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest and Leisure Suit Larry have their own collection DVD's. However, all these collections are missing games, including the first EGA games, which are replaced with VGA remakes.

And as the site policy goes, those games arent counted as "sold". Do you know what that means?

UNPROTECTIONS!

In short, following games are now downloadable again:
Kings Quest - Quest for the Crown
Space Quest - The Sarien Encounter
Leisure Suit Larry - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards
Police Quest - In Pursuit of Death Angel

Enjoy!

Boxshots for the Masses

For those who cannot tell the games by the tiny pictures and are too lazy to click on each one, here the titles in above order:
Realms
Star Legions
Stunt Island
UMS II - Nations at War
Utopia - The Creation of a Nation

Have a look at all those boxhots (and their games) and become Ermulized (<- that's the guy you should know by now because of the uncountable previous updates of his more or rather less profile-wisely countable contributions).

Finally, a general advice: Play responsibly! ...even if you are overwhelmed by any eccentric celebrations. Website anniversaries are especially dangerous!

Extras Festival

Just to show you that a great party must always end with a big Firework Festival, we prepared this Extras Mega-Update. Chris succeeded in transferring a lot of documents from the FTP:

Lemmings Chronicles, The - Manual (Frodo)
Anvil of Dawn - manual, reference card (Geezer)
Back To The Future Part 2 - Copy Protection, Manual (Geezer)
Captain Comic 2 - Manual, Copy Protection Codes (Geezer)
Incredible Machine, The - Manual (chuachinsoon)
Castles II - Manual (Xhumed)
Conquests of Camelot – Manual (Xhumed)
Alone in the Dark 1 - Manual (Xhumed)

Still not enough? Paco managed to upload Geezer's almost entire collection of advertisements for games. An impressive archive of gaming propaganda, indeed. You can find all of them in the boxshots sections for the respective games:

I bet you're sick of ads now...Police Quest - In Pursuit of the Death Angel, Populous, Powermonger, Protostar, The Punisher, Quest for Glory 1 - So You Want To Be A Hero VGA, Rags to Riches, Railroad Tycoon, Realms, Red Storm Rising, Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender-Bender, Ringworld - Revenge of the Patriarch, Sea Rogue, Shogun, Silent Service 2, Spellcasting 101, Star Control 2, Starflight, Star Reach, Star Trek - 25th Anniversary, Stationfall, Sword of the Samurai, Test Drive - Triple Pack, UMS II, Wacky Funsters, Waxworks, Weird Dreams.
