Dear Abandonia visitors: Help us keep Abandonia free with a small donation. Abandonia is like an old gaming arcade with only original games. Abandonia helps you have fun four hours and years. If Abandonia is useful to you, please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still keeping the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

don't respect them

Today we bring you something that is definitely not a Tetris clone - No Respect. After all, in Tetris, you don't fly around a voxel-based environment in hovercraft firing various forms of weaponry at an opponent in arena style combat, do you?

Not as far as I know.

Unprotection: Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space

After the end of WW2, all the Great Powers in the world were engaged in a technological race, that, if won would've given a major advantage, both from an ideological and economical perspective. Thus, after dividing the world in 1946, USA and USSR declared the start of the race into space. Conquering the last bastion unspoiled by the human activity was harder than expected.

The first to accomplish this task were the Soviets, who sent their first man to meet the void, Iuri Gagarin, on 12 April 1961. The Americans, thought that the only way to make up for this defeat was to be the first to set foot on the lunar soil. And so they did... On 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong made the step that "changed" humanity.

In this game you're the director of the Space Program. Want to relive these historical moments? Want to be the first? Make it happen!

Manual & Boxshots: Sea Rogue
For years, you've felt a pull toward the sea, a longing for adventure on the oceans of the world. In your search for excitement, you've tried deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, water-skiing. None of them have left you satisfied. Until now. Manning your rusted sea trawler, you have found satisfaction at last in the search for sunken wrecks. But you have ambitions beyond captaining this trawler. A few months ago, you were flipping through one of your favorite diving magazines when you saw a photo of something you had only dreamed about - the high-tech, deep water submarine Sea Rogue. You know you must attain fame and wealth before you will be worthy of such a fine vessel, but you are thrilled at the challenge. For now, you have to start somewhere, so you tuck the magazine away in your quarters and dig out the 165-page(!) manual including the notes (coordinates!) of its scanner, Shadytrake. Front and back serve as stylish boxshots as well, one of them more than the other one.

an arsenal of unmatched proportion

You return home from a space flight to find your entire race brutally slaughtered by an alien race. Do you:

A. Huddle in a corner and sob

B. Find the alien race and wipe them out

In Overkill - The Six Planet Mega-Blast, you choose B, and proceed to blow up everything that moves, as well as everything that doesn't. Get your revenge!

Boxshots & Identification Chart: Fish!
Life's like that, sometimes you're dealt a raw deal. Toast falls buttered-side down. Phones ring when you're in bath. And there's always chili sauce on your kebab. Good that you can look at your Fish! identification chart, just to know what you have to deal with when you smell that there is something fishy again. The boxshots are not included in the chart because Bobbin didn't want to doodle on it (note: pencil can be rubbed out), but at least he scanned them for the boxshots section.

into the void...

The colony on the remote asteroid Theta-2 has been wiped out. The United Earth Space Alliance has selected you as the pilot to eliminate the aliens who did this before they pose a threat to Earth. The Radix fighter is the pinnacle of human technology, so if you cannot defeat them, then God help us.

It's Radix: Beyond The Void, a game where you destroy, on average, one enemy every three seconds. Usually more.

!!!: Closure of the Crypt

The Crypt was a game category where all the "ugly" games went to, for example CGA and ASCII games. This was a compromise on the controversy if such games are "good" enough for Abandonia. Much happened since then, and Abandonia became more liberal over the years. So we decided to finally raise the dead and brick up the oldgamer's "shame". No longer you will miss these games in their respective genres, but that doesn't prevent you from viewing them as groups, since we have added a CGA-only and an ASCII tag to the Perspectives.

To make an abrupt transition to wishing you Happy Easter, I want to use the analogy that we won't hide the really old games like Easter eggs anymore (see the colourful square one top left? - amazing, isn't it?...).

So, Happy Easter!, and may you find one or another Easter egg in one of our games.

Boxshots: Michael Jordan in Flight

Whichever way you look at it, you can't tell apart what's the front and what's the back of the box of Michael Jordan in Flight. You will twist and turn it till you went insane, and then go on twisting and turning.

So, have an everlasting incredulous look at the mind-boggling boxshots by great illusionist Ermuli

battlestations! dive, dive, dive!
"Okay, men, now listen. We're going to blow out the water now and see if we can get our rear ends out of the sand. If we make it to the surface, things could still get pretty rough. Traffic's heavy up there. And we have to pray the engines start, so we can get out of this mess."

Today Silent Service II takes us into the depths of the Pacific Ocean. You are in command of an U.S. submarine during WWII, right after the events at Pearl Harbor. So, if you like to run on creep speed through shallow waters, lurking for the next convoy, this is your Catch of the Day!

Special thanks go to Saccade, who supplied us with the German Manual as a nice addition to the English Extras!
