Then I played this game the first time, I thought all those questions would get answered and that I had many more hours of game time. It was a huge anticlimax then I went to the police with the gun, and suddenly the game was completed. Another thing that irritates me about Crime city is all the choices you can make, that don’t change anything. One of those things is your skills. Lock picking and surveillance is needed during the game. But no matter if your skills are 1 or 9, your changes of success seems to be the same. As a matter of fact it’s not even relevant if you do fail. Just try to pick the lock again. Also it doesn't make any difference if you follow someone for 2 hours or 4 or 6 or 8. So why even give the player the choice? You can also improve your first aid, fighting and crime rate. But there is absolutely no place in the game where you can even use those skills. Also your intelligence, charm, energy, moral etc is changing during the game. Firstly, they seem to change randomly without any connection to what you are doing. Secondly, this makes absolutely no difference. The game is full of things like this. You can break up with your girlfriend, confess a murder, vandalize the church. And nothing of it will affect anything. Your moral doesn't change, not your intelligence. And the game won’t take a new dicertion. If you break up with your girlfriend, you can just walk outside her house and then go back in. And everything will be just like before. You can make plans with her for a time at the pub, but she will not be there, and none of you will ever say anything about it. Whenever you follow a person, he or she will always do the same thing. Phil always get a phone call and drive away in his car in big hast. Even then his dead, he keeps doing this if you decide to follow him around. If someone catches you following him or her, it has absolutely no effect. Just follow them again until they don't see you. What's the point in giving the player a lot of options and ways to develop the character, if is has nothing to do with the game? One other thing... The game is really, really easy. Whenever you get stucked, you can just visit any of the 11 screens, and talk to everybody in them. Then dial all the numbers. If that doesn't give you a new path, just click "next day" and you will get a letter. The only reason the game might take some time is because of silly things like how you find Gordon’s house. You must go back and look at a document that you have already looked at. Things like that can get you stucked, but not in a funny way like if there was a hard puzzle to solve. Just in a ridiculous, buggy kind of way. Besides all that, the game really entertained me then I first played it as a kid. One reason is that it's very easy to control. After only five minutes you know exactly how to play. Another reason is actually the limited numbers of screens. Since they are so few, you don't get bored of clicking at everything. For example, then I played Sherlock Holmes. There was a new place all the time. And after a while I wasn't excited then I found a new room to investigate. It felt more like a "job" to go through all the clicking and reading in every new place. Crime city keeps up the excitement every time you find a new screen, and you are happy to search it through. In Crime city you don't even have to chose "open" or "use" or "look" etc. The game does what’s needed with the object you click at. This also makes the clicking and reading part less boring. Crime city also got a really nice graphic and sound. All the places are interesting to visit. The church, pub, police station etc. There's something in the atmosphere that got me hooked. I have really god memories of this game, but it is one of those that didn't stand the time very well. (Sorry for the spell and grammars. I’m from Sweden). |

1. Open the folder containing all the game files. 2. Right-click on crime.sav 3. Left-click on properties 4. At the bottom where it says attributes, remove the check from "read-only" Ridiculous.... |
