Got an oldskool IBM PC or compatible? Want some fun? Eeeeexcellent. Remember Pacman? Well, today, we bring you Pacmania, another one of those we-would-never-dream-of-cloning-that-other-popular-game-games.
Actually, Pacmania comes pretty close, if not closest, to the original. You can see it as a port to IBM PC architecture. You know, CGA graphics, PC Speaker sounds, all that stuff that makes any game sound and look annoying. And still, you’ll want to play it over and over.
The graphics and sound of Pacmania are, as mentioned, the things that would make Pacmania annoying. They’re not even good or anything, they’re just catchy. And that’s all you could expect from a game from that period.
The gameplay of Pacmania really makes up for the rest of it. Pacman is, was, and always will be one of the most-enjoyed, most-remembered, and most well-made games of all time. It’s just fun. The controls couldn’t be easier, the objective is as simple as it could be, and it’s just fun. Need I say more?
4 out of 5 points. Because of those darn annoying jingles the game plays when you die and stuff. You probably know what I mean, anyway.
