Here’s yet another real oldie. Oddly enough this was always one of my least favorite games (no matter what system I played it on) and my opinion still stands. I mean, the game is quite ridiculous.
You’re a little guy named Dug and you need to dig (or are you Dig who used to dug). You have a water pump in your hand to defend yourself against the monsters. You use it by getting close to the monsters and rapidly hitting the fire button which inflates them until they finally explode.
And just what kind of monsters are we talking about? It’s the variety that lives under the surface and needs to be crushed by rocks you dig around. Just remember, you don’t get to kill the dragon looking one. He’s a sort of a boss who escapes from one level to the next. If you drop a rock on him, you’ll waste a perfectly sculptured underground weapon. And not to forget, all the monsters can miraculously move through the ground without shoveling it out of the way. That means they may turn up right next to you, and as you walk slower than them, they’ll simply kill you.
This game was just a disappointment to me. To kill a monster you can either stand under a rock (press up towards it to wait there) and then move away in time so the rock squishes it, or simply use the pump to inflate and explode it. But if your timing is off, you’ll die. This gets repetitive very soon, so you might wanna reconsider playing this game after a few levels (you can see which level you’re on by counting the daisies in the top right corner).
A below average game (even though it’s one from way back), which goes to prove that not all oldies are great (although the sound was OK and the graphic average for the time of its creation).
